Welcome to Mormon Media Reviews! If you are visiting from 5 Minutes for Mom's Blog Party, thanks for stopping by. I would like to tell you a little bit about the blog. But first, for those of you who come by for your Movie Reviews let me fill you in on what is going on here.
My sister over at Made by Munchie's Mama turned me on to this blog party in an effort to find more people who think like me that I can learn from and be entertained by. And hopefully I can do the same for some of you new friends who have stopped by.
So to my new friends, welcome. If you are like me you love Good movies and TV. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or simply a Mormon, I try to seek out entertainment that is both enjoyable and virtuous. Like Paul says, "...whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Our blog's purpose is to inform you of what shows and movies are Quality and what sort of Content to expect. We had a dear friend go to see the Musical, Jersey Boys. She loved the soundtrack, but was so embarrassed when between the songs the dialogue was entrenched with foul obscenities. Our goal is to help you avoid situations like this! Feel safe to let your kids watch that show, or take you sweetheart our to that movie for date night.
So we invite readers of all faiths. Even if you aren't Mormon, but you like movies you would mind seeing with your mother our blog is for you!
Check out our rating system and into or any of the below suggested reviews.
Oh, and say hi even further below before you go!
Cascia Talbert from The Healthy Moms Magazine - Just dropping by from The Ultimate Blog Party I am looking forward to networking with you and getting to know you better! I hope you have the opportunity to visit our blog! http://www.thehealthymoms.net/2012/04/ultimate-blog-party-2012.html
ReplyDeleteI like wholesome movies! Especially for my kids!
ReplyDeleteYeah, you just can't trust a PG-13 rating anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love it when Parents are active in what media their children are exposed to! <3 from http://www.littlecrunchy.com Happy to have found you on the blog party!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! We review books and sometimes movies.

Thanks for dropping by A Daddy Blog! Love the service you provide. I've liked you on Facebook, btw. Do you have a Twitter, Pinterest or Google+ account?
ReplyDeleteWhat's Google+? Haha! I do have a Twitter though, https://twitter.com/#!/MormonReviews
DeleteLove the sunglasses!

While my kids are all older (tween and teens), I agree that there should be some standards that TELL me what to expect. I hate walking into something essentially blind and getting a shock that I didn't expect.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from #UBP12 :D
Oh, I just posted about something like this. I took my 6 year old daughter to see Mirror Mirror (Snow White movie with Julia Roberts -- rated PG). The movie was fine, but the previews before the movie were so demonic! I was disgusted. If you want to see that post, I think I named it: DISGUSTED! Ha.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you!
Have a super blessed weekend!
Beth
Thanks Beth, yeah I have been shocked by what we see in previews. I feel like trailers should not be higher in rating than the one you are going to see. Won't solve all the problems, but it should help.
DeleteHi! Stopping by from the UBP! I am so careful as to what my kids (girls ages 9 & 5) watch so this blog will be most helpful to me. I just cannot trust the TV/Movie ratings system with the content that some people find acceptable for young'ens that I do not. I wish there were a better rating system for children's books too! I've followed you on Facebook & Google Connect. Feel free to follow me at any of my locations and if like a Pinterest invite, I'll gladly send you one ;-)

Thanks! Yeah we try to add any questionable content and let the reader choose what they are comfortable with.
DeleteHello! It's nice to meet you =)
ReplyDeleteIt is helpful as a parent to read reviews from other parents to get a feel for which movies are right for your family and which are not! =)
Stopping by from #UBP12 - we're Muslim but have similar attitudes towards entertainment/movies etc. I'll be coming back often ;)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! One of the things I respect about the Muslim faith is that there is a strong sense of morality and that members at large feel that it is important to follow it.
DeleteWe have a ClearPlayer that really helps. I'm visiting from the UBP12 Party. Here is my party post: http://www.laughwithusblog.com/25-random-things-about-me/
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by from the UBP. I'm not Mormon, but I am a Christian and appreciate good, clean movies that are suitable for my family. Thanks for posting movie reviews. I'm sure I'll check back often!
ReplyDeleteLove the glasses!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting our blog during the party!!!!
Yay! This definitely will help. I agree with the comment that you can not go by ratings anymore. Glad to have found you!! :) I'm now following your site.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from UBP12. I'm always looking for some good clean entertainment. Happy Tuesday!

What a great resource you are! I always try to do a little research about a movie before I let my kids watch it.
